Personally, I’ve found the exercises from Truth About Abs the best – multi-joint exercises are so awesome, they work you so hard during the workout itself and because you are building up your biggest muscles you get such a boost in your overall metabolism. I’ve been doing this for 8+ months and I’ve reduced my body fat from about 15-16% to 9% – really happy.
Some persons would might sustain with that cardio exercise routines depending on their eagerness for a change, then boring is not an issue with them. I found walking is the best particular example too for an effective exercise to flatten tummy. I am fond of eating junk foods sometimes, now I know it really contribute more belly fat. Thanks for this information. Nice post!
I thought that having an amazing tummy was hard to get. I found myself embarrassed because of the extra weight around my midsection. However, getting the motivation to do something about it started my journey to find the best exercise to flatten my tummy.
These articles will help people by following the 5 fast facts. Understanding healthy food is good. Yeah I agree to the fast five facts but why we should avoid tummy exercise, if it’s not required than what are the types we should do to get flat belly.
I think the best exercise to flatten tummy is to maintain some of the few exercise like Aerobic exercise, as it concentrates on the entire body and are best way for losing weight and for our stomach too. We should also maintain healthy diet as it’s the main important to flatten tummy without maintaining healthy diet we cant flatten our tummy even though we did a better exercise. We should also cut down diet like sugar, refined grains or crazy diet.
When it comes to ab exercises, sit-ups and crunches should be avoided. Instead I suggest focusing on exercises like the “plank” and hanging leg raises. Much more effective and puts less strain on your spine.
What about people who are no longer in their 20’s and 30’s? It gets harder to firm and tone any muscle once you get past “prime”! Seems to take a lot more work to get the same results. Is this method effective for us?
Combining your cardio along with resistance training will help you burn a lot of fat overall.
I find that stability ball ab exercises work the stomach and core a whole lot more. You really have to focus your attention to detail and if you do ..you’ll see great results!
Hi Marci
Thanks for the post some really good information there… The key to everything when dieting is having to focus on you end goals, yes it takes time but it will be worth it in the end. You need to find what you are comfortable with and not only with the diet but also the exercises you are going to do if it is to difficult you will most probably quit and if it is to easy meaning exercise then it will not be very beneficial to your weight loss.
Always factor in walking as the very first exercise especially if you have not been doing any exercise at all then work your way up to more active exercises.
Good info here. I find that total body exercises like squats, deadlifts, push-ups…to name a few combined with interval training is the best way to burn fat and tighten your midsection. Thanks again for the post

Hi Ryan glad you liked it…
Thanks for sharing some of your techniques with us much appreciated.
It is very correct to start this post from healthy food and eating habits. Belly is one of the hardest places to take fat off and it is allmost impossible to do without correct diet.

Thanks for the information’s. I just want to say that nothing is more effective than running (jogging) and healthy eating. If you watch what you eat and if you eat only as much as you need, you will definitely see results. But avoid starving.
I must say it’s an amazing website. The best Exercise To Flatten Tummy is really so useful for all those trying hard to get rid of it. I was not aware that exercises such as sit-ups, crunches and those expensive ab machines are the most ineffective ways of losing belly fat . In fact i have really wasted a lot of my time on it. Thanks again .
This exercise really is important for health. Been at it for almost 2 months now and I feel like a different person. You have some similar points with another website that I found info from. They also talk about cardio exercise, but mainly for treadmills.
I believe people should only attempt to lose belly fat if they know what caused their belly fat in the first place to avoid putting it back on again. Insufficient exercise is one reason, and too much food is another – but that’s only part of it. Too many carbohydrates is the biggest reason for many people. People need to lower their carb intake dramatically, and time their carbohydrate intake to pre and post workout so it’s used for energy and not stored as fat, and include much more protein and fats – yes, fats – into their diet.
Lower overall calories are the key, but this isn’t sustainable without your metabolism dropping, so cheat days when you eat more – carbs included – are recommended.
What you said about sit-ups, crunches and ab machines not being effective is so true! What really helped me get rid of my love handles was running. It is not only effective, but it is also inexpensive and fun.
the best exercise are full body exercises like military press and also swimming.:`:
Agree with ab machine. I had one before and dang! it didn’t flatten my stomach. Calorie control is important. Crunches can’t help much as well, crunches can tone abs or strengthen abdominal muscles but it can’t really help in losing belly fats.
I have never bothered too much about watching my weight obsessively, as long as you burn it of in the end there will be no problems. Things like you talk about here, stomach crunches etc, go a long way to help.
But, how do you know when you’re overtraining? I’ve never been able to figure that out!
Your body will tell you that you are exercising to much by possibly becoming lethargic or even a loss of appetite , you need to follow a routine and don’t over do it this can really cause some problems for you.
Abdominal exercises can be a very effective tool to get you a flat stomach, but it takes dedication and consistency to accomplish it. Don’t get intimidated or discouraged at the thought of regular abs exercise. It will be more difficult at first, but as you get into a regular routine you will find that it gets easier. And when you start seeing visible results, you will be even more motivated to go the distance.
Having a long term plan is the best way to lose weight. Losing weight in a short period of time using diets is temporary. You will tend to put on weight again without a strategy and discipline. My advice is to think long term – follow a diet which is sustainable and enjoyable – less meat, more greens, more fiber and exercise regularly. It is better to lose a little weight this way as the weight loss will be more permanent and fit into a healthy lifestyle

A good workout can help flatten that belly. But you have to be careful not to over exercise. And a healthy diet is advisable as well. I have also read somewhere that apples can help you digest better.
Wow those people who did that program look fantastic. I’m such an idiot I bought the abs king pro and yeah it didn’t work . I suppose I will try what you recommended. Great post thank you.
Ok Ok ladies and gentlemen , this is where I have to step in. From my experiece and from helping others in similar situations, the best excersises to flatten your tummy is a mixture of having a very well balanced diet, plenty of running and good old fashion sit-up..crunches, I hate them too…but crunches d well o work my friends.
This is a nice post I’ve found. It is very easy to get a big beer belly, but it is very hard to bring back your flat tummy. With an unhealthy lifestyle of various night outs, many fat deposits go to your tummy and you will be proud to have a bulging belly. I have tried few new treadmills and exercises I found on the net that promises a flat tummy, none of them worked perfectly. I almost lose hope, but I searched over the internet and as what you have said, there are particular exercises for particular body parts. Than you for the information it is greatly appreciated.
I think that the best way to lose weight and keep your tummy flat is to have discipline because no matter how many times you bought yourself new treadmills, exercise videos, diet pills and exercise books, you will not have that flat tummy without discipline and perseverance. Many models have starved themselves just to look thin and this is not healthy as many of the models have anorexia or are in fact bulimic. Who would want to look good in a few months but will have to take medicines for the rest of your lives. Be confident with yourself and you will find yourself losing that extra inch in your belly.
Don’t get intimidated or discouraged at the thought of regular abs exercise. They work you so hard during the workout itself and because you are building up your biggest muscles you get such a boost in your overall metabolism.
I think a lot of people worry only about their belly. Its pretty hard to flatten your stomach when the rest of your body is lacking. It has to be a whole body thing.
I think one top of the strict exercise you have to do the same for your diet. No more Starbuck sugar filled and foamy drink. Even a regular cup of joe is way betterthan that junk. One drink can be about 800 calories plus the saturated fat.
Leslie
now only the article is great, but that girl is fantastic 🙂
in my opinion, the core principle of losing weight is eating less and exercising more.. so you burn more calories that you ingest.. an if you do that, you can do any exercise you want to model your body… but if you’re fat, it doesn’t matter what exercise are you doing and for how long?
I’m surprised to hear that cardio excercises don’t help with flattening your tummy. Learn something new every day, but I definitely wouldn’t use pills lol
Hi Flex
Yes you are right, I am also one who does not believe in using weight loss pills, firstly there do not teach you how to start eating properly and they are definately not going to help to firm up your tummy area. The best program i know of currently that can help you to flatten your tummy is by a guy called Mike Geary – Truth About Abs.
great exercises, the problem is doing all of them together, in one training, can be exhaustive. anyway, the losing weight part is the difficult from all of them (in case you want to build muscles, etc). Well, what can I say, lucky me I don’t have problems with weight, but I have friends that have and they are overwhelmed with all this.
It is really baffling why people think that crunches can cure your stomach issues. Why do you think there is such a common misconception when it comes to cardio and the effects it has on your over-all fat loss? I would have thought it would be common knowledge that the best way to burn is by aerobic exercises.
Cardio is an absolute must for weight loss. You can do all the crunches or sit ups that you can handle and will not see any results in your wasitline until you burn that fat off.
Take the Water Challenge as well. Challenge yourself to only drink water for 2 weeks. Eliminate coffee, soft drinks, juices etc….dont “diet”, i.e. eat what you normally eat but only drink water. You’d be surprised how much weight you lose
2 years after giving birth, I’m feeling fab and looking fab! At least I think I do. 😉 I’m back to my pre-baby weight and I’m able to fit into all of my old clothes. My secret? Running and hoola hoops daily! The former helped a lot in shedding of the pounds, while the latter helped big time in trimming down my waistline.
I think it’s worth pointing out that not everybody can achieve a flat stomach simply for genetic reasons. Despite this, stomach exercises can be effective for “flattening” a flabby stomach.
I’ve noticed how women tend to … er … puff up … after giving birth (and yes, sometimes even while they’re still pregnant). My wife got rid of this apparent bloated look by jogging. Everyday. For at least 30 minutes. It helped her shed off the pounds and trim away the flabs as well.
Why do you think that sit-ups and crunches are ineffective? I’d like to hear the proof of these words. Crunches are classics of the ab workout routine, and they wouldn’t be popular for such a long time if the were not effective. As for me, I do it regularly, and I wish you could see my abs!
Hi Craig
We are not saying that sit-ups and crunches don’t work what we are saying is that there are better ways to accomplish your goals and get toned abs. Firstly simply doing these exercises without having a change of diet is really only wasting your own time.
Secondly many people start these types of exercises with no goal in mind which leads to them not working simply because they quit before they see any positive results through frustration.
Fatso is really has the point. In fact I just visited a blog yesterday. I have learned that sit-ups alone is not effective to loose you fatty tummy. There are still a lot of things you need to consider.
I used the Dr Max Powers Burn for about two weeks and I lost 3 pounds so far. Amazingly, most of the weight loss came from my belly.
To flatten our stomachs, it’s a combination of the right foods and exercise. Remember that when doing crunches, it’s quality over quantity.
Hi Annie
Yes Annie it is a combination of many things so that you can get not just the results you want but the best results overall…
I used to think that sit ups would make me lose my belly fat. I was kind of surprised when I read here that it can’t help in removing my belly fat. Hmm..I was kind of convinced with what you offer. Maybe I should try it. I really wanted to remove my belly fat naturally.
Hi Elois
What you may not realize is this, if you get this wrong you will only be building muscle under your fat because you have not changed your diet to accommodate what you are doing. There is a lot of information out there that is just wrong. I did this myself and every single day I did 100 sit ups and got no where with it except very sore and sorry for my efforts.
I’m so happy to hear you say that diet pills are out! They are so bad for you and don’t promote long-term weight loss. Thanks for the tips!
Hi Karen.
Diet pills are nothing more than a quick fix that don’t really help you establish a routine for weight loss or even teach you how to eat properly… Some of these diet pills can also have serious side effects.
I think cycling is one of the best abs exercises as you feel more like you are working out your legs rather than your tummy. If you can get outdoors and do some real cycling it feels less like exercise altogether! Regards Alli x
Hi Alli
I would have to agree with you,if you like the outdoors then going for a bike rude is a great way to get that much needed exercise and you can tone those tummy muscles as well.
Great ideas – you must keep moving – burn the calories. One thing I do to help achieve my “keep moving” goals is to wear a step-counter on my belt – from the time I get up until bedtime. I try to break 10,000 steps a day which can involve some serious speed walking and rebounding. Just a important is the right kind of fat-burning diet. A great resource for ton of tips is http://www.awesomeabsfast.com – worth your time. 😉
If you can get outdoors and do some real cycling it feels less like exercise altogether! True!
