Fad diets are diets that have been created to be used for a small amount of time. Another popular culture meaning for the term is a diet that becomes wildly popular for a period of a small number of months to a small number of years, and then fades into obscurity.

This is so true, I’ve been on so many fad diets and have sometimes lost abit of weight but in the process have felt poorly or when I’ve started eating properly again the weight just came back and sometimes very quickly.I agree, these diets do you more harm than good, look what happened to Dr.Atkins!!

i have tried many diets. Basically i have found the most successful actin is to eat simple basic foods, meat and veggies, fruit and nuts and have a walk every day for a mile or so. That seems to work well. The occasional glass of wine is ok too.

Fad diets generally comes with quick results which may eventually compromising body’s natural metabolic processes, which is very bad. All nutrients including “FATs” are required for natural metabolism. Best practice is to go slower by natural ways like removing bad habits, making a healthy change in lifestyle. exercising regularly.

Healthy diets is still the most recommended way dont follow the fad diets way. Go for something natural and you will be alright! Sometimes a good immunization schedule will help u too.
Fad diets are absolutely ridiculous and they can be really really harmful on the body. You shouldn’t try messing with the natural rules of weight gain/loss. Exercize, eat better and you will lose weight. Maybe it won’t be over such a small period of time, but at least your body won’t suffer because of it.
Yes these fad diets seem to become a mad craze, nobody does any research about the diet to see if there are any ill effects and everybody jumps in because they know someone else who is doing it.
While we continue to run away from the basics of good health through fad diets, the reality is always going to be the same. But because society is now so quick fix minded, fad diets will continue to be big business and people will continue to waste their money on them.

Yes you are very much correct because we have become an instant society everyone wants to lose all the weight today without any effort or even changing their diet. This approach is simply not going to work in the long run and what you will find is even though you lose the weight it simply returns in a few weeks or months time depending on the length of the diet program.
Dieting is about making healthy choices and lifestyle changes.
I have to agree with Keeley that these diets often do more harm than good. People don’t realise how dangerous some of the regimes can be, and end up severely compromising their health just to lose a few pounds.
It really doesn’t seem worth it particularly as these diets are generally unsustainable in the long term. By drastically reducing your calorie intake, you only slow the body’s metabolism, resulting in weight gain when a normal eating pattern is resumed. As Michael says, the only real option to lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way is by eating simple, healthy food and taking exercise.
It should be much more about making a lifestyle change than making drastic alterations that can’t be maintained. The simple proviso of moving more and eating more healthily should be more widely adhered to- it removes a lot of the supposed complexity of weight loss!

Fad diets is very harmful for the body as we skip our meal just to avoid the consumption of more calory intake then the calory burned.
Its good to have healthy diet but regular exercise and yoga keeps you fit and disease free.
I couldn’t help but feel so sorry to all the people out there who believes and let their foolishness get the better of them. I for once did a couple of those but nothing worked and they all came back worse than before.
