Gradual change is better always. The body has more time to adjust every little step of the way. Of course, with self control, its quite possible to resist the sudden desire to eat more when going off of a rapid weight loss plan.
The key to losing weight is portion control and exercise. You should try to consume foods that are high in nutrients but the occasional burger won’t hurt your goals so long as you manage your portions and limit how often you consume fattier foods. If you order a burger eat half of it in one sitting and save the rest for later, or share it with a friend. Eating smaller meals more times a day helps to boost your metabolism. Also be more active. That doesn’t necessarily mean going to the gym. Any extra activity equals calories burned and muscles utilized. Fit as much activity into your day as possible, especially on days that you treat yourself.

Yes you are right you really need to set your mind to loosing weight as well as having goals you want to reach. Another key that many people do not speak about is having the support of your family and friends to get through the tough times.
Personally, I am a fan of the Paleo Diet. I find that by following the Paleo Diet and taking one day off from it a week while following the workout program outlined in The Four Hour Body, I’ve gained a significant amount of muscle while putting on almost no fat. Best of all – none of those expensive supplements from online!
For me best pratice to weight loss fast is – eat less and count calories (about 1500 kcal/day for man). It is faster than exercise and more healthy than fat burn pills.
Agree with you, the best way to lose weight is by eating less calories than we’re burning and never starve ourselves because it will send our body to low calorie burning mode. But the old fashion way is always the best, always eat a balance and healthy meal and do regular exercise should do the work!

What many people do not realize when they go on a diet that actually starves your body is your bodies defenses then going into fat saving mode so that it can defend against the reduction in foods. The best way to reduce your weight is simply eating three healthy meals a day drink plenty of water and exercise.

Yes you need to have discipline as well as the motivation to want to lose weight or your will not be in the right mindset to reach your goals. The good thing for the participants in the Biggest Loser is that they have what I would call a mentor meaning trainers that help them get through the tough times while trying to lose the weight.
Setting goals is very important in weight losing activity. Take note of the milestone along the way until you achieve your targeted weight.
You say “Many of us already eat the correct foods for a well balanced diet” and I once believed this was absolutely true. Now I am not so sure. So much ready prepared and restaurant food is laden with calories without us realizing. Now I carefully look at the content labels when I am shopping I am horrified at the saturated fat and salt content that is often present. Certainly in England the labeling laws allow an appearance of healthiness by relating the salt content for instance to a portion size rather than the whole pack.

Yes you are right about this, many foods today are actually labelled to make them look healthy but in reality they are not. Just the other night I was at a friends place for dinner where they were cooking plain white rice and I just happened to notice how they added salt to the rice before it was steamed. This is not something I would ever do or even have thought to do.
As for restaurant food that to can be very confusing with all the fats and salt that can be added without you really being aware.
As far as I am concerned, eating a healthy meal will contribute a lot to our weight. I just realized that unhealthy food are the main culprit of obesity. As much as I want to eat in fast food restaurants, I am opting for more healthier options like eating in organic restaurants where they serve a healthier meal.
