Protein Supplements Help People Gain Muscle
Having your body gain muscle isn’t always easy.
It requires a lot of work and dedication as well as a lot of decision making. You have to decide when and how much to exercise. You also have to decide what kinds of exercises you are going to do.
Beyond that, you need to determine what nutrients you need to have more of, and which ones you are completely lacking in your diet.
Chances are you’ll discover that you are going to be needing a whole lot more protein.
Understanding Why You Need Protein To Gain Muscle
Protein is one of the main ingredients in creating muscle gain and is important in building body mass in general. That said, the average diet doesn’t contain nearly enough of it to satisfy the needs that body builders have.
If you are eating like the average person does, with three meals a day and a few snacks here and there, you are likely taking in anywhere from twenty to forty grams of protein each day.
Depending on your body type, that might not even be enough to meet the requirements that nutritionists recommend for the average person.
That means it’s not enough to healthily maintain the body type of a lot of people out there, let alone being enough to help a person gain muscle or any other type of body mass.
To do more than maintain their current body mass, a person needs to take in a whole lot more protein. In fact, while the average person is recommended to intake around forty grams of protein, someone looking to gain muscle is usually told to aim for well over a hundred grams in any given day.
If you take a moment to read the labels on some of the foods you typically eat, you’ll quickly discover that reaching that amount of protein will involve eating a fairly hefty amount of food.
You Can’t Eat Enough Food To Gain Muscle
This is where protein supplements come in. It just isn’t possible for people to eat the amount of foods required to hit their recommended intakes otherwise. That would involve having so many full meals in a day that there wouldn’t be time for them to do anything else.
And yes, eating more is still an important part of a muscle building program, but there are limits to what a person can do.
There are many different types of protein supplements for gaining body mass. Some of these are geared specifically towards muscle building while others are designed and formulated for general weight gain. The supplements can be purchased in the forms of drinks, powders and bars. Often people also take in protein in pill form.
The two main types of protein supplements are created by using either soy or whey protein. For people who are aiming to gain muscle, however, it isn’t the soy type of protein that will be of much help. For them, whey protein is the way to go.
When you start taking the supplements, carefully space out the times that you have them. Don’t try to take a whole day’s worth all at once. Usually before and after exercising is the best time, but taking a supplement at other spaced out times throughout the day is good as well.
Using protein supplements like this and along with a carefully planned out diet routine will put you well on your way to gaining muscle.

From everything I have read, it looks like whey protein is the most bioavailable. Is there a particular brand you like? So many of them have artificial sweeteners which I don’t want. And some taste really gross!
