Taking Your Health For Granted Can Have Serious Side Effects
Even though you have a healthy diet and exercise regularly that is not a guarantee that you will not have any health concerns.
As an example, I have a friend who has spent the last two years studying to be a personal trainer. He eats all the right foods and exercises everyday to stay fit, I mean he was really good at this and I found him very easy to work with when training.
No One Is Invincible When It Comes To Health
I would say however that he had one issue that needed to be addressed and that was his passion to ride dirt bikes extremely fast while not being as experienced as he thought, actually it used to scare me just watching him ride.
That is when his whole life changed for the worse, You see he had just purchased a new dirt bike and was taking it for a spin when the accident happen.
It was wet as we had seen rain here for the last three weeks and a lot of the ground had been eroded away by the water leaving huge ditch’s where there was once solid ground.
There was no way that he could have seen the erosion as the grass was now a few feet high but he thought he knew the area as I did so he jumped on the bike and went flat-out.
Are You Taking Your Good Health For Granted?
I am going to go off track here for a minute just to ask you a simple question, do you have health insurance. I now know after the accident that my friend didn’t and actually due to his fitness level and healthy lifestyle he thought he really didn’t need any form of health insurance. You know it is something that only old people have as they will get sick not us young ones.
Needless to say when he came off that bike I was horrified I thought he was dead. He must have tumbled hundred times across the ground with his arms and legs going in all directs. When he came to a halt he wasn’t moving I yelled to my wife to call and ambulance and I went running over to him thinking the worse.
Well he wasn’t dead, but he was hurt really bad with his shoulder shattered and looking like jelly and both of his legs as far as I could tell from the way they were facing broken.
The Financial Hardship Had Just Began
Even though he was smashed up badly the real pain had not yet started. The bills that he was receiving from having to recover from this accident were huge and having no health insurance virtually saw his personal training career fade away into a memory.
He could not work and with two young children it was very hard for him to make ends meet, he was lucky he had a partner that was prepared to take on an extra job just to make ends meet and help him through the recovery process , which has from the date of this post been seven months and still going now with rehabilitation.
Who knows really how long it will take to get him back to his old fit self, maybe never.
All I can say to anyone that thinks they are invincible and especially if you have children is this, make sure you have all the options covered to protect you and your family from unexpected accidents like this. Without some kind of insure whether it be health insurance or income protection insurance your life can be become very difficult in a very short period of time.
