Top 5 Home Gym Myths
Having a home gym might be just what you need, but don’t jump into it without doing the proper research. Otherwise you might fall victim to one of the many home gym myths that are floating around.
Is A Home Gym Expensive To Set Up
For instance, many believe that home gyms are expensive, and that paying a membership fee at a public gym is more cost effective.
This myth is perpetuated by both the corporate gym industry and pure misunderstanding.
When you go to the gym you are a member of they’ll point out the multi-thousand dollar machines and show you how many different types of machines they have. That makes you think duplicating it at home will cost a fortune.
Okay, so it will.
Fortunately you aren’t supposed to duplicate it. Your home gym doesn’t need expensive machines that can withstand non-stop use, nor does you gym need every type of machine there is. Two or three pieces of good equipment can go a long way, and will be paid for in the membership fees you save.
Is A Home Gym Less Effective For Fitness
Another myth states that home gyms provide less workout motivation, but the reality is that the opposite is true. At least at first. There’s a novelty in a home gym, but when that wears off staying motivated is difficult, but no more so than it would be if the gym was a five minute drive from your doorstep.
Working out requires drive, which is hard to come by, but the fact that the gym is in your home won’t directly affect that.
Myths about home gyms aren’t just against the idea. Some myths are actually in favor of them. For example, many believe that it’s easier to maintain a workout regiment when the gym is in their own home. The thing is, no matter where the gym is located there is a lot of will power needed to keep things going. When it’s in your own home it’s no easier.
Do You Have Enough Room For A Home Gym
One myth that keeps people from putting their own home gym together states that there just isn’t enough available space. Your home gym doesn’t have to be a playground with dozens of different machines, though. You can easily build a gym to fit any space limitations you may have.
More space means you can choose equipment more freely, but if all you have is a living room then you’ll simply have to choose gym equipment that can be placed around the couch. One big machine and then some small essentials will do the trick just fine.
What Is The Best Home Gym Equipment
The biggest myth of them all though, and one that you should understand is a myth before shelling out the big bucks, is that any exercise equipment will do a good job if it’s used right.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
There is equipment for sale that just isn’t built to healthy standards and there is equipment that just might not be suited to your body. In most cases, you’ll simply find that the cheaper variations of common exercise machines don’t provide the same benefits as the rest.
Hopefully, knowing that these things are just myths, you’ll want to put a home gym together. Now you just need to do some research on what to buy and get the facts. Then, put your gym together and use it in health.
